REP. MUSHINSKY, SEN. FASANO ANNOUNCE
FUNDING FOR QUINNIPIAC RIVER LINEAR TRAIL
State Representative Mary Mushinsky and Senator Leonard Fasano (R-East Haven, North Haven, Wallingford) today announced that $150,000 in state funding was approved by the State Bond Commission on Friday, December 19th to assist the Town of Wallingford in construction of Phase II of the Quinnipiac River Linear Trail. This phase involves a pedestrian bridge over the Quinnipiac River, a tunnel under the Wilbur Cross Parkway and an additional 900 feet of connecting trail.
"I am very pleased that these improvements are in sight for the trail," said Rep. Mushinsky. "By getting these funds approved, we can provide a safe and health-promoting environment for residents and their children."
"The trail will provide expanded recreational opportunities for the citizens of Wallingford and surrounding communities," explained Senator Fasano. "The Town of Wallingford has worked closely with the Department of Transportation and the Department of Environmental Protection to coordinate the project and I’m happy to see it moving forward."
Quinnipiac River Linear Trail welcomes the bicycler, the skater, the hiker, the fisherman, the walker, the casual stroller and the serious athlete, and nature lovers of all kinds. The extension will eventually allow people an alternative for commuting to and from Wallingford, Yalesville, Meriden and North Haven. "These improvements will once again tie together villages into a strong cohesive community." Rep. Mushinsky said.
