LEGISLATORS PRAISE $500,000 IN BONDS
FOR WALLINGFORD PUBLIC LIBRARY
State Representative Mary Mushinsky and colleagues Reps. Mary Fritz (D – Wallingford), Al Adinolfi (R – Cheshire), House Minority Leader Robert Ward (R – East Haven, North Haven, Wallingford) and State Senator Leonard Fasano (R- East Haven, North Haven, Wallingford) were pleased to learn Monday that the State Bond Commission is expected to approve $500,000 of state funds to assist in construction costs related to expansion projects at the Wallingford Public Library.
"We are delighted that money for this important project is on the agenda, " said Rep. Mushinsky. "Libraries are essential tools for community and individual growth. They need to grow themselves on occasion in order to do their job efficiently. This funding will help make it happen."
"It is important to fight for our share of the state pie," Rep. Fritz said. "This grant will take some of the burden of funding this project off the shoulders of Wallingford property taxpayers."
"I know the residents of Wallingford will appreciate the upgrades to the library," said Representative Adinolfi. "I appreciate the Bond Commission being willing to take up this issue, and I thank Governor Rell for making this happen."
"Promoting education in our local communities is always one of my top priorities as state Senator and improving our public libraries is an important step in that process," said Senator Fasano. "By keeping our library facilities strong and up to date, we can help to encourage reading and learning in children and adults alike."
Rep. Mushinsky is serving her seventh term in the Connecticut General Assembly. She is a member of the Finance, Revenue and Bonding Committee, and serves on the Select Committee on Children and the Environment Committee. Rep. Mushinsky is an Assistant Majority Leader.
