NURSING MINORITY SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITY
State Rep. Mary Mushinsky is pleased to inform the community that Yale-New Haven Hospital has announced their annual Minority Nursing and Allied Health Scholarship Award Program to Connecticut high school seniors.
Each scholarship is $8000, renewable at $2000 per year.
"This is a great opportunity for minority high school seniors seeking a career in the healthcare field," Mushinsky said. "Yale New Haven Hospital has recognized a need for qualified health care professionals to serve minority families and the entire community." Minority students are defined as Alaskan Native, American Indian, Asian or Pacific Islander, Black or Hispanic.
Applications for the scholarship can be obtained by logging on to the Yale-New Haven Hospital website, www.ynhh.org/general/commsvc.html#education, or by contacting 203-688-5083.
"I encourage minority students and their families to get additional information to apply and take advantage of this opportunity," Mushinsky stated.
Students most be planning to enroll in a full-time course of study in the fall of 2010 graduating in Spring 2010 from a New Haven area High School, leading to a degree as a Registered Nurse or a degree in Allied Health program. Allied Health programs include: Respiratory Therapy, Nuclear Medicine Technology, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy and X-Ray Technology. Applications deadline is March 15, 2010 and awards will be announced by May 2010.
Representative Mushinsky represents Wallingford's 85th Assembly District. She is House Chair of the Program Review and Investigation Committee and a member of the Select Committee on Children; the Environment; and the Finance, Revenue and Bonding Committees.
