The Connecticut Water Works Association (CWWA) has named State Rep. Mary Mushinsky (D-Wallingford) Legislator of the Year for her leadership in winning passage of legislation promoting water conservation and investment in water infrastructure.

In presenting the award to Rep. Mushinsky, CWWA Legislative Tri-Chair Maureen Westbrook of the Connecticut Water Company said, “Rep. Mushinsky has been a tireless advocate on issues affecting the state’s water resources. Last session, she worked with the water industry and environmental groups to craft legislation to encourage water companies and customer to conserve water. Her efforts recognize the importance of public water supply issues to meeting the state’s environmental, public health and safety goals.”
“Water is the most essential element for life and we must do everything we can to ensure its proper management and preservation,” Rep. Mushinsky said. “I am honored to have been recognized by this organization as we all commit to finding ways to safeguard this vital resource.”
Rep. Mushinsky has pushed for legislation to develop a statewide water use plan to guide decisions regarding water allocation and management.
“Rep. Mushinsky’s efforts will ensure that water use planning is a top priority in the upcoming legislative session. We look forward to working with her to craft sound public policies to protect Connecticut’s public water supplies,” said Vincent Susco, East Hampton Water & Sewer and CWWA Legislative Tri-Chair.
