State Rep. Mary Mushinsky today thanked committee members, support staff and everyone involved in making the legislature’s Program Review and Investigations Committee, (PRI), which she co-chairs along with Senator John A. Kissel (R-7th District), the recipient of a national recognition for work during recent sessions.
The National Legislative Program Evaluation Society (NLPES), awarded the PRI Committee the 2014 NLPES Certificate of Impact. NPLES is affiliated with the National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL) and evaluates entries from program review and investigations offices that have demonstrated through their work a significant influence on state government.
“I am extremely proud of the excellent work our bipartisan committee has done through the years, but especially this past session, when most of our recommendations were adopted,” Rep. Mushinsky said. “This work would not be possible without the assistance of our committed staff that is always eager to create for us complete and accurate studies on a variety of issues to make state government more effective.”
The NLPES judges’ panel concluded that the PRI Committee application for the award met the criteria for receiving this year’s certificate for its report, Provision of Selected Services for Clients with Intellectual Disabilities.
An announcement of all NLPES award recipients will be made shortly before the NCSL Legislative Summit in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Mushinsky said, “It is an honor to work with such an extraordinary group of individuals who care deeply for our state. I am thrilled about this national recognition for PRI, and thank my colleagues, former co-chairs, Sen. John Fonfara and Rep. T.R. Rowe, PRI Director, Carrie Vibert and project researchers Catherine Conlin, Maryellen Duffy and Miriam Kluger for their phenomenal work on behalf of our state.”
