BRIDGEPORT LEGISLATORS ANNOUNCE MAJOR FUNDING FOR THE CITY

Representatives Andre Baker (D-124th), Charlie Stallworth (D-126th), Jack Hennessy (D-127th), Christopher Rosario (D-128th) and Ezequiel Santiago (D-130th) are pleased to announce Bridgeport received a substantial amount of funding for projects across the city. The funds were approved by the State Bond Commission on Friday, January 29, 2015.

“I am pleased to see that Bridgeport was well represented with these funding items,” Rep. Baker said. “I realize we have a tough budget ahead, but despite that the city received over $16 million.”

“From housing to transportation, these various projects address a number of quality of life issues that will improve the city on several different fronts,” Rep. Stallworth said. “As always, we are hard at work to bring the dollars home and I thank Governor Malloy for supporting the effort.”

“This amount of funding during lean economic times is indicative of a well-represented municipality,” Rep. Hennessy said. “Bridgeport will come around and every bit of funding helps – I look forward to continued collaboration that will benefit city.”

“Ensuring that people have adequate, affordable and decent housing is one of the foundations to successful communities,” Rep. Rosario said. “It only improves when you combine that with a robust transportation system – such as new train station in the district.”

“We have been working for some time to fund several projects that address constituent concerns and issues, and this round of funding moves us forward,” Rep. Santiago said. “This is what can be accomplished when a delegation works together to represent its constituency.”

Harrison Apartments - 102 Units

Milestone Apartments – 15 Units Supportive/ 15 Units

$9,155,000

University of Bridgeport - power to dining hall, recreation center, student center, police station and two residence halls to provide emergency shelter for city residents
