REP. BOBBY SANCHEZ TAKES OATH OF OFFICE
Becomes newest state representative for New Britain

State Representative Bobby Sanchez (D-New Britain) was officially sworn in as the state representative from the 25th House District.  Secretary of the State Denise Merrill presided over the ceremony in the State Capitol.  Rep. Sanchez was elected Tuesday in a special election.  He takes over the seat that was held by John Geragosian.

“I am delighted to be a part of the New Britain delegation to the General Assembly,” Rep. Sanchez stated. “My predecessor always worked hard for the people of the 25th District and I plan to continue that tradition.  We have a great deal of work ahead of us, including the state budget, but I am ready for the challenges.”

“Bobby Sanchez brings a wealth of experience to the Capitol that will be very beneficial as we face the challenges ahead,” said Speaker of the House Christopher G. Donovan, who attended the ceremony.

Sanchez is a longtime leader in the New Britain community. He is currently a member of the New Britain Board of Education, where he has been a strong voice for quality education and efficient administration. Sanchez is well known for his work at the Human Resources Agency, where his efforts have helped make for a strong Head Start education program in New Britain.

“It is an honor to join such a distinguished group of public servants in the State Legislature,” Sanchez said. “I am truly motivated to work hard for the people of New Britain."
