State Rep. Bobby Sanchez has retained his position as Assistant Majority Leader, and has been named House vice chair of the Education Committee. He will also serve on the Higher Education & Employment Advancement Committee and will continue serving on the Finance, Revenue and Bonding Committee.
“As a leader within our caucus, Rep. Sanchez has the experience and ability to help improve the quality of life for everyone in Connecticut, while at the same time representing the interests of the families of New Britain,” Speaker Sharkey said. “Bobby will play a key role in moving our legislative agenda forward this session."
Sanchez, who was sworn in to his third term on opening day of the 2015 Legislative Session has been a strong supporter of education issues. He is committed to early childhood initiatives and improving access to preschool programs, including school readiness and additional preschool slots.
“I am honored to serve in this important new role on the Education Committee,” Rep. Sanchez said. “Having served on this committee during the last few years, I have heard from teachers, parents and students about what’s important to them. While we have made significant improvements on education programs, much more needs to be done. There will be challenges ahead, but I am looking forward to an extremely productive legislative session.”
