Unveiling a budget that protects funding for mental health services, municipalities, seniors, children, libraries, schools, healthcare, arts, tourism and social services – Rep. Toni Walker and her Democratic colleagues on the Appropriations Committee moved the budget debate forward. You can see Rep. Walker and Sen. Beth Bye review the highlights on CT-N. Or watch the full committee debate.
The budget cuts deeply; The Appropriation Committee’s proposed FY 16-17 General Fund budget cuts $504 million from the current services budget in FY 16 and $760.3 million from the current services budget in FY 17. It also seeks a $59 million cut over the next two years in salary adjustments for non-unionized state employees, and $62.5 million in overtime savings over the same time period.
