State Representative Michael D'Agostino expressed relief and his thanks upon the passage of An Act Concerning Tree Trimming, which passed the Senate on Sine Die (the last night of the 2014 Legislative Session). The bill places the burden of proving that public convenience and necessity require the pruning or removal of a tree or shrub on utility companies. READ MORE

No one disputes that damaged and dying trees that threaten power lines and public safety should be removed but UI's plans go drastically further than that and call for the removal of perfectly healthy trees. This is unacceptable and I have therefore asked UI to suspend its plans in Hamden, at least until the town can hire an arborist to review and oversee UI's plan. READ MORE
